Schedule a program by shifting the current and upcoming schedules down during an overlap

At times, due to change in the content planning, a need might arise to schedule an individual program at a timeslot where another program is already scheduled. Deleting the individual scheduled program and rescheduling with another program would be operationally heavy. To eliminate the overlap conflict, PLANNER allows shifting the current and upcoming schedules down if there is empty space to accommodate these schedules.

To schedule a program by shifting the current and upcoming schedules down during an overlap, follow the below steps:

  1. Locate the replacement/new program from the content manager and drag it just above or below the existing program that needs to be replaced.

  2. In the Schedule Media window, manually provide the start time of the replacement/new program.

  3. Click SCHEDULE.
While scheduling, since the new program overlaps with the scheduled program, the system will not be able to schedule the program and throws an Overlap Conflict(s) Found! Message.

  4. To get rid of the overlap conflict and schedule the asset, click the Shift the following schedule down for all days option.

4. Click SCHEDULE.

Once done, the new program will be scheduled at the scheduled start time that you have manually provided in the Schedule Media window. The existing schedule along with all the upcoming schedules will be shifted down by the duration of the new program. This resolves the overlap conflict.

Limitation: Currently, the option to shift the schedule down is available only while scheduling an individual asset and only if there is empty space in the calendar to push down the current and upcoming schedules.
