Filter assets

While creating the ad automation rule, you can select the assets to be scheduled for the current ad automation rule to take effect.

You can filter the assets based on:

  • Genre, for example, Genre → Cooking

  • Rating, for example, Rating → Pvc

  • Asset Type, for example, Asset Type → Non Episodic

  • Asset Duration, for example, Asset Duration → Greater than (>) 10 minutes

  • No. of Segments, for example, No. of Segments → Lesser than (>) 3

  • Series, Seasons & Episode, for example, Drag the required media to the dropbox

When you schedule assets that match the filter condition specified in the ad automation rule, the rule will get applied on the scheduled asset based on the priority assigned to the rule.

Examples:

 If you filter assets by…

Ad automation rule will only be applied to the scheduled assets having…

Asset Duration → Greater than (>) → 5 minutes

Asset duration greater than 5 minutes

Genre → Cooking

Genre as cooking

No. of Segments → Equal to (=) → 3

Asset segment count equal to 3

Flight duration

Determines the time period for which the ad automation rule needs to be applied to the scheduled media. Using the Flight duration pane, you can run ad campaigns during specific time periods (only on Mondays and Fridays) or festive occasions such as Christmas, Halloween, etc.

Field Name

Description

Start Date

The date from which the ad automation needs to be applied to the scheduled media. The date on which you create the ad automation rule becomes the start date by default. You can provide a different start date per your requirement.

End Date

The date until which the ad automation needs to be applied to the scheduled media.

Note: By default, the end date is not selected. Hence, the ad automation will be applied to the scheduled media indefinitely from the start date as long as the ad automation rule is active in the system. If you want to provide an end date, click the Assign end date field and provide the date.

Week Parts

Determines whether the ad automation rule needs to be applied to the scheduled media throughout the week or only on specific days.

Following are the options available for selection in the Week Parts list:

  • All week - The ad automation rule will be applied throughout the week

  • Monday to Friday - The ad automation rule will be applied only from Monday to Friday.

  • Saturday & Sunday - The ad automation rule will be applied only on Saturdays and Sundays

  • Selected Custom Days - The ad automation rule will be applied only on the custom days chosen by you, for example, only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This helps to schedule ad campaigns during specific occasions, for example, ad campaigns specific to Christmas can be played from Dec 23 to 26.

All day checkbox

Determines whether the ad automation rule needs to be applied throughout the day for the chosen week parts or only on selected time frames.

  • Select the All day checkbox if you want the automation rule to be applied throughout the day for the chosen week parts.

  • Clear the All day checkbox, and select the start and end time (for example, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) if you want the automation rule to be applied only for a specific time duration for the chosen week parts .

Ad break pattern

Use the Ad break pattern section to define:

  • The part of the program where you need to apply the ad break

  • Details of ad media used in the ad break

When the ad break pattern is applied…

The ad break will get automatically inserted…

Before the program

Before the program starts to play out.

All ad breaks

After each asset segment in the program.

Select ad breaks

Only to the ad breaks of your choice. The available options are:

  • Only to the first ad break in the program

  • Only to the last ad break in the program

  • Custom ad break in the program per your choice

After the program

After the program plays out completely.

You  can also specify the details of ad media used in the ad break.

Ad media type

Ad spot

Duration

The type of ad media that needs to be scheduled on the ad break. Click the Ad media type list and choose the required ad media

An advertising spot is a multimedia advertisement that airs at a specific time and location. Ad spot helps businesses to promote their programs at the desired times, and locations that are best for reaching their desired audience.

During the program’s ad break, you can choose to air the advertisement:

  • just one time (single ad spot)

  • multiple times (multiple ad spots),

Specify the minimum and maximum duration of the ad media that needs to be scheduled on the ad break.

For example, if you specify the minimum duration as 5 minutes, and the maximum duration as 15 minutes, then only the ad media having a duration from 5 to 15 minutes will be considered for scheduling.
