Schedule programs using automatic curation collection

This section explains the nomenclature and the steps to schedule an editorial curation collection.

Nomenclature

While scheduling programs using automatic curation collection, you need to define the following:

  • Schedule type

    • Series-Season - Choose this option to schedule a series that can be split into various seasons comprising multiple episodes that revolve around a specific topic.

    • Open Series - Choose this option to schedule a series that can be directly split into multiple episodes without any seasons.

    • Non Episodic -  Choose this option to schedule an individual non-episodic program

  • Duration of the program
This is the sum of the duration of all individual asset run times in the program, ad breaks, and the duration of pinned assets.

  • Ad breaks in the program
Ad media are automatically inserted in the program based on the ad automation rule that closely matches the collection being scheduled, the scheduled date/time, and the priority of the ad automation rule. Multiple ad automation rules can be created to insert ad media in the program per your requirements.

  • Asset order
You can rewrite the asset order chosen while building the collection during program scheduling per your requirement.

  • Asset pinning
The pin rule you have defined while creating the master collection will be applied during program scheduling.

Note: While scheduling the program, you cannot define a new pin rule. However, you can edit the position of the pinned asset or delete the pin rule.

Steps to schedule a program using automatic curation collection

To schedule a program using an automatic curation collection, follow the below steps:

  1. From the CONTENT MANAGER pane → Collection tab, locate the master collection if it is already available in the PLANNER application. Else, build a new master collection. Check out this section for details.
  2. Ensure that the ad media is configured for this collection before scheduling.
    • If you want the episodes to occupy approximate block duration while scheduling, follow the steps outlined in this section.

    • If you want the episode to occupy the exact block duration while scheduling, follow the steps outlined in this section.

  3. Ensure that the scheduling date (the day on which the non-episodic program needs to be scheduled) is visible in the scheduling calendar.

  4. From the CONTENT MANAGER pane, drag the required collection to the scheduled start time and date in the calendar.

  1. Configure the Schedule Collection window displayed on the right pane of the PLANNER application.

    1. On the left pane in the Schedule Collection window, select the required schedule type.

    2. Provide the Duration.

    3. Select the number of programs that you want to schedule per day.
Note: The ad breaks will be distributed equally across the program in between the assets, and not before or after the asset.

    4. Ensure that the ‘Start time’ and ‘Scheduling Date’ chosen in the Schedule Collection window match with the program’s start date and start time.

  2. Optional step: Move to the Metadata tab, and provide the episode metadata if it is not available. Else, leave this section as it is.

  3. Click the Rules tab on the right pane, and configure the following:

    1. Provide the number of ad breaks you wish to schedule in the program.

    2. Choose the asset order.

    3. The position at which assets are pinned while building the collection is displayed by default. You can modify this position or even delete the pin rule per your requirement.

  1. Click SCHEDULE to schedule the program.

Once done, a non-episodic program will be scheduled such that the assets, along with the ad breaks, will have a total duration of approximately 60 minutes.
